Act-On Software

Single Sign-On Overview

Act-On supports Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) as a method to log into the platform. You can use this to Single Sign-On (SSO) to another system and access Act-On without signing in again.

Please note: SAML is an add-on feature with an additional cost. Please contact your Account Manager if you are interested in enabling this feature.

How It Works

Act-On SAML works with authentication initiated through an external Identity Provider (IDP). This means that with SAML enabled, you can only access Act-On through your IDP. This process works as follows:

  1. A user logs into the IDP portal (eg., their intranet)
  2. The user clicks the Act-On button and triggers the authentication process
  3. Act-On’s Service Provider (SP) handles the authentication process
  4. If the user is on multiple Act-On accounts, they will see a screen that lists each with an option to sign in:

  5. The user is routed to the relevant Act-On instance to access their account

Other Details

There are a few restrictions to using this setup

  • You cannot use Act-On's standard login feature to access the platform
  • You cannot view/reset/change your Act-On password through the platform

With SAML enabled, you will see a different logout screen than usual:
