Determining Whether an Email Message Has Been Opened

AUDIENCE: Administrators, Marketing Users
OBJECTIVES: Understand how a message is counted as 'opened'

When reviewing your message report or creating a segment of your list, you will notice a reporting field called Opened.

An email message will count toward the Opened calculation if the recipient: 1) opens the message and downloads the images, or 2) selects View the Message in a Browser Window, if that option is available in the email message.

Note: If an email recipient has images turned off or if their email client is set for plain text only, the message does not count as an opened message.
