Using the Clean Code Feature

WYSIWYG editors can create a lot of extra HTML code that is mostly related to font styles and colors. The extra HTML created serves no purpose and tends to 'bloat' your email message.

The Clean Up Messy Code feature (which looks like broom) is located in the Rich Text Blocks and removes a lot of the unused code, so your message doesn't take up any more space than necessary in your recipient's in-box. Even if your recipients are never aware of it, it's the right thing to do. Think of it as building good email karma.

Getting rid of unused HTML code also makes it easier for you to read and edit your message in the HTML view. You can use the Messy Code feature anytime you edit a rich text block.

  1. Hover your mouse cursor over the Rich Text Block of your message
  2. Click the Pencil icon
  3. Click the Messy Code Icon, which looks like a broom.
  4. Act-On will automatically clean up the messy HTML code.
  5. Click Close when you are finished.
