Adding Customer and ISP Names

In the Companies view of the Website Prospector report, the Anonymous tab shows the companies from which people are visiting your site anonymously. Act-On performs a reverse IP look-up to identify the company based on the anonymous prospect’s IP address.

Managing ISP Names Settings

In the Companies view of the Website Prospector report, the Anonymous tab shows the companies from which people are visiting your site anonymously. Act-On performs a reverse IP look-up to identify the company based on the anonymous prospect’s IP address. In some cases, the company can’t be identified, and the general ISP carrier name will be shown. You can mark these as ISPs in order to filter them out of the Anonymous tab and move them to the ISPs tab. The Act-On system identifies and filters many well-known ISPs to the ISPs tab automatically. Manually marking ISPs will further allow you to reduce the ISPs in the Anonymous tab so you can more easily focus your attention on following up with companies and not ISPs.

Anonymous prospects manually marked as ISPs in the Anonymous tab of the Website Prospector report are reflected in two places: the ISPs tab, and the menu More > ISP Names Settings:

  • From the ISPs tab, you can mark an anonymous prospect as Not ISP, which moves it back to the Anonymous tab.
  • Mark or unmark ISPs in bulk by using the list of ISP names in the Website Prospector report menu More > ISP Names Settings. Here you enter ISP names, one per line. Any company name returned by the reverse IP look-up that exactly matches one of the names in the ISP Names Settings list will be filtered into the ISPs tab. To remove an ISP, just delete its entire line from the ISP Names Settings list.

Managing Customer Names Settings

In the Companies view of the Website Prospector report, the Customers tab shows the site visits of known prospects and/or anonymous prospect companies who have been designated as customers using the rollover command Mark as Customer in the Anonymous or Known tabs. Known prospects matching an email address marked as a Customer, or anonymous prospects matching a company name marked as a Customer, will be filtered into the Customers tab. You can see at a glance which of your customers are visiting your site and take the desired follow-up actions.

Prospects marked as customers are reflected in the Website Prospector report in two places: the Companies tab, and and Website Prospector report menu More > Customer Names Settings:

  • From the Anonymous or Known tabs, you can mark an anonymous or known prospect, respectively, as a Customer, which moves it to the Customers tab. From the Customers tab, you can mark any customer prospect as Not a Customer, which moves it back to either the Anonymous or Known tab, as the case may be.
  • Mark or unmark customers in bulk by using the list of customer names in the Website Prospector report menu More > Customer Names. Here you enter customer names, one per line. To remove a customer, just delete its entire line from the Customer Names Settings list.
